Apple’s iPhone SE 4 is reportedly set to arrive in March 2025. A recent report by Korean outlet Ajunews suggests that LG Innotek is gearing up to begin mass production of the device’s camera components in December. Historically, Apple suppliers ramp up production three months prior to a product launch, which aligns perfectly with a March timeline. Barclays analyst Tom O’Malley also confirmed this timeframe, citing insights gathered during a trip to Asian electronics manufacturers and suppliers. This schedule mirrors previous iPhone SE launches, which have typically taken place in March or April.
The fourth-generation iPhone SE is expected to introduce a host of significant upgrades that elevate the budget-friendly model closer to Apple’s flagship devices. It will reportedly feature a 6.1-inch OLED display, a major leap from the 4.7-inch LCD screen of its predecessor. In addition to the enhanced display, the new model is rumored to adopt Face ID, replacing the Touch ID Home button, and to feature a USB-C port instead of the Lightning connector. A single 48-megapixel rear camera is also expected, delivering sharper image quality.
Performance enhancements are also anticipated, with the iPhone SE 4 likely to include 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM and the advanced A18 chipset, the same processor used in the iPhone 16 series. Furthermore, it is expected to be the first iPhone to debut Apple’s in-house 5G modem, a milestone that could mark the beginning of Apple’s transition away from Qualcomm. Although the modem’s performance benefits compared to Qualcomm’s existing offerings remain uncertain, it is a strategic move that reflects Apple’s ambitions to control its hardware ecosystem. Apple has been working on its own 5G technology since acquiring Intel’s smartphone modem business in 2019, and this development represents a culmination of years of effort.
Despite these advancements, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to retain its position as a more affordable alternative to flagship models, with an anticipated price range of $499 to $549. While slightly higher than the iPhone SE 3’s starting price of $429, the new model promises modern design and features at a competitive price. Its design is expected to resemble the base iPhone 14, making it more visually aligned with Apple’s current lineup and a significant departure from the iPhone 8-inspired design of its predecessor.
