Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 lineup is shaping up to be one its most innovative releases, as per the rumor mill. The most exciting report regarding the flagship models is the introduction of a new “Air” variant which is expected to be the thinnest iPhone ever created, surpassing even the slim profile of the iPhone 6 from 2014. As for the Pro models, they are set to receive subsantial upgrades, starting with a smaller Dynamic Island. Apple first introduced the Dynamic Island with the iPhone 14 Pro, replacing the notch design and later rolling it out across all models with the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16 lineups. Now, using advanced Meta Lens technology, the company aims to further refine this feature. This technology allows Apple to shrink the Face ID module, paving the way for a more compact and unobtrusive Dynamic Island. Additionally, the bezels on the iPhone 17 Pro are rumored to be even thinner, bringing the device closer to the all-screen design Apple has been steadily pursuing. The combination of smaller bezels and a reduced Dynamic Island is expected to deliver a strikingly immersive visual experience.
Apple’s ultimate goal appears to be the elimination of the Dynamic Island altogether, a move that would require the adoption of under-display sensors and cameras. This technological leap would allow Apple to maintain its commitment to Face ID while achieving a truly uninterrupted front display. Although this ambitious design evolution is unlikely to debut with the iPhone 17, it emphasizes the tech giant’s long-term vision for a bezel-free, all-screen iPhone.
The iPhone 17 Pro is also rumored to feature a dual-finish design, blending glass and aluminum on the back.
