A standalone “Google Gemini” app has appeared on the Philippines iPhone App Store. This new app aims to deliver the powerful capabilities of Gemini, Google’s advanced AI model, directly to iOS users, enabling real-time, interactive conversations with AI.

Until now, Google Gemini’s interactive feature, Gemini Live, has been available exclusively on Android devices, creating a notable absence on iOS. By launching a dedicated app on Apple’s platform, Google is addressing this gap and extending its latest AI capabilities to iOS users.

Upon opening the app, users encounter Gemini Live, accessible through a distinctive sparkling icon at the bottom-right corner. This mode enables users to engage in natural, real-time conversations with Google’s AI on diverse topics, from obtaining quick answers to performing complex tasks. This design makes Gemini Live feel less like a traditional app feature and more like a personal assistant, actively involved in conversations and problem-solving.

Customization is a core element of the Gemini experience, allowing users to tailor interactions based on their preferences. One of the notable personalization features is voice customization; users can select from 10 distinct voice options for Gemini’s spoken responses, enhancing the AI’s personalization and making each interaction feel unique.

Additionally, the app includes an “Interrupt Live Response” toggle, allowing users to halt the AI’s responses instantly to switch gears in the conversation. This flexibility is especially useful for those who may need to shift topics quickly, adding a layer of control that feels intuitive and seamless.

Further enhancing Gemini’s functionality, the app also offers sophisticated voice input controls for hands-free use. Users can say “stop” to pause the AI’s voice response, use a hold button, or end the session directly from the interface.

Hints of a forthcoming feature for Gemini Live suggest that Google may soon enhance file-based interactions. Discovered within the beta code of the Google app for Android, text strings reveal that Gemini Live could soon automatically recognize file attachments and prompt users to “Open Live,” “Talk about attachment,” or “Open Live with attachment” to begin a voice-based conversation about the uploaded content.

Supporting a variety of file types, including TXT, DOCX, PDF, CSV, and Google Docs, this capability could enable Gemini to perform in-depth data analysis on spreadsheets, extract specific document content, and even generate summaries. Professionals, in particular, will find this feature invaluable for obtaining quick insights from large volumes of data without manual data entry, streamlining tasks that once required substantial effort.
