Apple is gearing up to launch new M4 MacBook Pro models, iMac, Mac mini, as well as a new entry-level 11th generation iPad in the coming weeks, as per a new report by reliable Bloomberg reporter, Mark Gurman.
These would not be the first M4 chip based products, as Apple launched iPad Pro in May 2024, however, the roll-out would validate the company’s focus on AI features with hardware to back it up.
It was expected that Apple would announce these M4-chip based products earlier, as previous news from April 2024 also mentioned them. As per Gurman, the following are the codenames for the updated products:
J604: a new low-end 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M4 chip.
J614 and J616: new high-end 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros, each with two pro-level M4 chip options.
J623: a new iMac with the M4 chip.
J773: the revamped, smaller Mac mini in M4 and M4 Pro chip variations.
None of the products in the aforementioned list are new to the Mac lineup. However, important omissions include the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models, as well as the Mac Studio, which never received an M3 chip upgrade. It is expected that the M4 MacBook Air models will launch in the first quarter of 2024, while the M4 Mac Studio will launch in the second quarter of next year. An M4 Mac Pro is also expected expected to hit the markets before the end of next year.
Apple just announced the new iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro line-up so it will be surprising if they host another event within this month. The new flagship smartphones feature A18 and A18 Pro chips, improved cameras, a new Camera Control smart button, support for new AI features, and much more. They are available for pre-order now and will go on sale from 20th September 2024.
