Apple has just rolled out a major update to iCloud.com, bringing a fresh design and a host of new features to the web-based platform. The update is designed to align iCloud.com more closely with the functionality and design of iOS and macOS, creating a seamless experience across all of Apple’s platforms.
One of the standout features of this update is the introduction of Dark Mode to iCloud.com. Users can now enjoy a browsing experience that matches their Mac’s Light Mode or Dark Mode settings, providing better accessibility and reducing eye strain, particularly in low-light environments. For those who prefer a more personalized touch, iCloud.com now allows you to choose from a variety of colors to set as your homepage background. To adjust the background, simply scroll to the bottom of the homepage and click the “Customize Home Page” button, allowing users to tweak the appearance to their liking.
This update also brings significant improvements to Photos and iCloud Drive, two of the most commonly used features of iCloud. Navigating your photo library is now easier, with a new option to jump directly to a specific month or year by clicking the calendar icon within the Photos app. You can also edit key metadata, such as the date, time, and location of photos directly from the Info Pane, offering a more streamlined way to manage your media.
Moreover, iCloud.com now lets you display a favorite album on the homepage by adding a Photos tile. This makes it quicker and more convenient to access cherished memories. For iCloud Drive users, the new Shared View tab shows all files that have been shared with you in one place, simplifying collaboration and file management.
The Calendar app on iCloud.com has also received a visual refresh, featuring a more modern interface that aligns with the design language of Apple’s mobile platforms. Additionally, Apple has made the Calendar more inclusive by adding support for the Hijri calendar, which Muslims around the world widely use. This addition further reflects Apple’s commitment to making its products accessible and useful for a global audience.
Apple has also enhanced the Notes and Reminders apps on iCloud.com. These updates are particularly welcome for users who rely on these apps to stay organized. The Notes app now supports pinned notes, a feature long available on iOS and macOS. This feature allows users to pin their most important notes at the top for easy access. You can pin or unpin notes with a simple control-click or right-click on a Mac.
In the Reminders app, users can now create new lists to better organize tasks and mark off recurring reminders once completed, improving productivity and task management. These subtle but powerful updates are designed to help users stay on top of their schedules with ease.
