Apple has released the fifth beta of macOS Sequoia 15.3 to developers, continuing the usual pattern of beta releases following major public updates. This update comes a week after the public release of macOS Sequoia 15.2. Alongside macOS, Apple has also seeded betas of iOS 18.3, watchOS 11.3, tvOS 18.3, and visionOS 2.3. These betas are currently available for registered developers and can be downloaded from the settings app on each device.

The standout feature in macOS Sequoia 15.3 beta 1 is the introduction of Genmoji, which allows Mac users to create custom emoji characters. This feature first appeared in iOS 18.2 and iPadOS 18.2 but wasn’t available in macOS 15.2. With Genmoji, users can input a text prompt to generate a custom character, which behaves like an emoji. These custom characters can be created using source images from the Photos app or a generic emoji person. They sync across devices via iCloud so that users can access them on iPhone, iPad, and Mac. Genmoji can be accessed from the emoji palette on the keyboard, which is triggered by clicking the emoji icon in apps like Messages or using the shortcut Control + Command + Space.

Currently, Genmoji is only supported on Macs with Apple Silicon chips, and all Genmoji creation happens on-device, ensuring privacy and efficiency.

As for the other betas, there is little information available about new features in iOS 18.3, watchOS 11.3, tvOS 18.3, and visionOS 2.3. As of right now, Apple has not revealed any major additions, but the updates likely include stability and performance improvements.

Mac users and developers interested in testing macOS 15.3 can install the beta by navigating to System Settings > General > Software Update, ensuring their Apple ID is linked to a developer account. Apple advises against installing beta software on primary devices due to potential instability.
