Billie Eilish has once again been recognized for her extraordinary talent and cultural impact, earning the title of Apple Music Artist of the Year for 2024. This historic second win, following her inaugural honor in 2019, solidifies Eilish’s position as one of the most influential artists of her generation.
Eilish’s 2024 achievements are unparalleled. Her haunting ballad “What Was I Made For?”, from the Barbie movie soundtrack, earned her a second Academy Award and two additional GRAMMYs. The release of her third studio album, “HIT ME HARD AND SOFT”, showcased her artistic growth, blending vulnerability and boldness in a project hailed as the best work of her career. The album reached the number-one spot on Apple Music’s all-genre albums chart in 138 countries, further cementing its global success.
Rachel Newman, Apple Music’s Senior Director of Content and Editorial, praised Eilish’s ability to evolve while staying true to herself, stating, “She’s a voice of her generation. What’s been truly remarkable about watching her evolve this year isn’t just her resonance with fans, but how she’s blossomed on her own terms.”
Beyond her music, Eilish made a global impact through her performance of “Birds of a Feather” at the Summer Games’ closing ceremony, which garnered record-breaking Shazam searches. Her collaboration with Charli XCX on the summer anthem “Guess” and her sold-out Hit Me Hard and Soft tour further highlighted her dominance this year.
Apple Music is celebrating Eilish’s achievement with exclusive playlists, Spatial Audio versions of her entire catalog, and special events. Fans can explore her discography and reflect on how Eilish has redefined modern music since her breakout with “Ocean Eyes.”
This recognition places Eilish alongside previous winners, including Lil Baby (2020), The Weeknd (2021), Bad Bunny (2022), and Taylor Swift (2023). Eilish’s ability to connect deeply with audiences, paired with her artistic evolution, ensures her continued influence in the industry.
As Eilish humbly remarked, “Since day one, Apple Music has supported my music and artistry. I am both honored and humbled to receive this recognition as Artist of the Year this many years into my career.”
