iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro customers have been complaining about battery issues, and have taken to various online forums to voice their. concerns. This list also includes some older iPhone users who are on iOS 18.

As MacRumors highlighted, users had been complaining about iOS 18 battery issues since it was in beta, and the launch did not seem to fix anything. The battery drain is significant, and alarming, as some users have reported that battery goes down from 100% to 60% in half a day, without any heave use.

This shows that the issue is happening during standby mode, which is usually when iPhones use the least battery due to how iOS has been developed. This has been confirmed by some users who say that they get better battery when they are actively using their phone, rather than leaving it on standby.

Users have gone on to complain that they faced better battery life on their iPhone 15 Pro models, compared to iPhone 16 Pro. Users have been tried disabling background refresh, limited refresh rate to 60Hz from 120Hz, and restricted cellular from 5G to 4G, but nothing helps with the battery drain.

With new iPhone models, or iOS updates, it is common for the device to take a few days to optimize battery performance due to background tasks like indexing, etc.

Apple made it a point to market the battery improvements in the new iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Pro lineup thanks to the new A18 and A18 Pro chips, and larger batteries, but there is something seriously wrong with the iOS update that is causing battery life to tank when the phones are on standby.

Users could see improvements with iOS 18.0.1 or iOS 18.1 beta, however, it is too early to say as the updates are also a hit or miss for most users.
