Apple has released beta 7 for iOS 18.1 and iPadOS 18.1 to developers. The update is available now over-the-air for iPhone and iPad users who have their device enrolled in the beta program.
In beta 6, Apple has introduced new toggles for Satellite and AirDrop in Control Center, tweaks notification summaries, added TikTok sharing support to Apple Music, as well as added support for sleep apnea detection and breathing disturbances readings. The update also saw some new splash screens in various apps that introduce the new features introduced with iOS 18.1 update.
What’s new in iPadOS 18.1 and iOS 18.1 beta 7?
This update is around half a gigabyte in size for most devices, so understandably, the amount of changes would be small.
We are testing the builds on both iPhone and iPad and will update this post if we find any noticeable new features or changes.
Installing iOS 18.1 or iPadOS 18.1 beta 7
A word of caution: beta builds are usually unstable and can feature bugs and potential data loss. You should expect expect battery drain, bugs, slowdowns, app crashes, and even unwanted device restarts.
If you have already enrolled your iPhone or iPad in the developer beta program, simply go to Settings > General > Software Update, and start the download process. Make sure you are:
- connected a stable Wi-Fi connection
- have sufficient storage on your device
- have taken an iCloud backup.
If your device is not enrolled in the developer beta program, fret not, you can either wait for the public beta build, which should be available either later today or this week, or you can simply sign up to Apple Developer Program to register your device. This will allow you to download and install the beta update.
P.S. Apple has also released macOS Sequoia 15.1 Beta 5, watchOS 11.1 Beta 5, tvOS 18.1 Beta 5, and visionOS 2.1 Beta 5 to developers today.
